About the Novel

"Torden, Hear the Thunder" is a captivating fictional novel about a Friesian stallion and a girl in the Netherlands during the early 1900's. The spectacular, endearing Friesian breed was almost extinct and this impressive stallion will help re-establish the breed in the second book of the two-part series.

Some of the subjects "Torden, Hear the Thunder" involves are: dressage, trotting races, family, Friesian horse personality, The Netherlands, Belgium, World War I, dutch dairy farm, and much more! You may have to keep reminding yourself as you read it that this is a work of fiction.

This historical fiction, of 285 pages, was published in September 2006

Friesians on Film and TV

Friesian horses have been seen on movies such as "Ladyhawke". "The Mask of Zorro", "The Legend of Zorro" and "Tall Tales: The Unbelievable Adventures of Pecos Bill". Although glimpses of Friesians are shown, they are only a tease for the dramatic beauty of these animals. Maybe the directors were afraid if given too much screen-time they would upstage the stars. <wink>

"Eragon" is the first movie I have seen with good on-screen time for a Friesian! Not a bad movie either, but you can have the dragon. I'll take the Friesian any day!

Martha Stewart owns Friesians which she has shown on "Martha" and "The Apprentice: Martha Stewart". She even has Thanksgiving dinner in her barn with all her guests. The Friesians get to watch. How cool is that?
